East Sussex

Sustainable Community Strategy

What is Pride of Place?
Pride of Place is the Sustainable Community Strategy for East Sussex. It has been developed by the six Local Strategic Partnerships in East Sussex (Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes District, Rother, Wealden and East Sussex), in partnership with their Local Authorities.

Pride of Place sets out a shared vision for East Sussex in 2026.  The strategy contains our countywide strategic objectives and priorities to help us achieve the vision and improve the quality of life for people in all parts of the county. There are detailed sustainable community strategy chapters  for each of the Districts and Boroughs within the county, setting out a clear local vision,  local objectives and  local priorities.

A public consultation on Pride of Place ran from 20 November 2007 until 12 February 2008. All six Local Strategic Partnerships have approved the strategy and the six Local Authorities have adopted the Pride of Place. The adopted version of Pride of Place (PDF, 3.7 Mb) has been published on East Sussex Strategic Partnership's website.

East Sussex Strategic Partnership's website also provides a brief summary of Pride of Place, links to related documents and more information on how it was produced, including the results of the public consultation.
