A key focus in 2009 has been consultation on Wealden District Council's Local Development Framework Core Strategy. The Core Strategy will play an important role in delivering the Sustainable Community Strategy. Copies of the July 2009 consultation documents can be found here.
During 2009 we have held a number of events dealing with the Local Development Framework; improving our links with local businesses; and housing delivery. You can read the reports here.
In November 2009 we also held a plenary with wider partners to discuss our Sustainable Community Strategy, the Local Development Framework and the infrastructure that will be needed to help achieve the future vision for Wealden. Presentations from the day are available here.
At Board meetings in May and July the LSP discussed and approved a project to examine rural deprivation. This project will look at what data is currently available to help identify instances of deprivation and to consider where and how services need to be better targeted to address this. The project will run until March 2010.
The LSP has also agreed to assist with a pilot project to help develop an Infrastructure Delivery Plan for the Local Development Framework. Wealden District Council, with support from the Planning Advisory Service, will develop a delivery plan that will set out how the infrastructure required alongside the Local Development Framework Core Strategy will be put in place.
The plan will cover what physical, social and green infrastructure is needed to enable the amount of development proposed for the area, taking account of its type and distribution. It will also set out who will provide the infrastructure and when it will be provided. More information on such plans is available from the Planning Advisory Service website.
