Background to the Sustainable Community Strategy
Wealden's first Community Strategy was published in December 2002 and revised in 2007. More detail is available here.
Since then 'Pride of Place' - an Integrated Sustainable Community Strategy for East Sussex (1.67Mb) as a whole - has been prepared and was published in June 2008. It was developed by the six Local Strategic Partnerships in East Sussex (Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes District, Rother, Wealden and East Sussex), in partnership with their local authorities.
The Wealden Chapter of 'Pride of Place' sets out the current Sustainable Community Strategy for Wealden (pdf, 101kb). Each District and Borough has its own chapter, setting out each LSPs priorities.
The Improvement and Development Agency for Local Government (IDeA) has published a case study of the development of Pride of Place and the partnership working involved (word, 90kb)
We will develop a series of action plans to take forward the Wealden Sustainable Community Strategy - the current action plan (pdf 76kb) covers the period 2009-12.
All the other District and Borough LSPs in East Sussex, and the county-wide partnership, ESSP, have their own action plans to help take forward Pride of Place as a whole.
